New Pedestrian Traffic Island for the A39
After many years of campaigning BANES have agreed a new pedestrian traffic island on the A39 to improve safety for residents crossing the main road.
Also included is a request for a dropped kerb on the footpath to the west side of West Tyning.
Unfortunately a zebra crossing was not feasible due to the visibility requirements for traffic approaching a crossing of that type.
The funding has been agreed and set aside in this years’ financial plan, so although no start date has yet been set, we anticipate that work will begin shortly. For details see the attached plan (below).

News
The footpath alongside the A39 from Priston Lane to West Tyning will have the vegetation cut back. BANES have agreed the work to ensure the full width of the pavement is available.
Footpath has collapsed leaving a large deep hole and the bridge dangerously tilted over where footpath from Marksbury meets Tucking Mill Houses. This has been reported to BANES at 11:45 Friday March 22nd.
