Marksbury Parish Council have been raising the issue of the roads flooding at the Westway Garage junction with BANES and Wessex Water.
Here is the latest update from BANES:
Thank you for reporting the drainage issues, they’re things we are aware
of and are actioning.
The issues affecting the A39/A368 junction are numerous. These relate to
soakaways, agricultural land draining onto the highway, capacity issues
with the receiving drainage, and an unknown regarding the destination
where part of the junction drains.
We’ve been in contact with Wessex Water regarding the above, it is
something that we are progressing in partnership as they want to reduce
surface water flows into their foul sewer.
A thorough investigation of the existing drainage asset is scheduled. We
will be undertaking a week of night works on the junction during the
week commencing 17 March. This will involve high pressure jetting and
CCTV of all the drainage on the junction. It will mean that we will be
closing the A368 and using temporary traffic lights on the A39 whilst we
work.
